Designation

The mobile height-finder (MHF) «Vostok-V» with an active cylindrical phased array (APA) is designed to operate as part of a 3D radar system composed of a «Vostok-V» height-finder and a 2D «Vostok-E» range-finder. In the absence of «Vostok-E», the «Vostok-V» can be employed as an autonomous 3D radar.
In the MHF operation mode, the «Vostok-V», in terms of accuracy characteristics, is a match to the best Soviet-made height-finders such as PRV — 13, PRV — 16 and PRV — 17, while by virtue of its throughput of 120 — 150 targets, it can substitute up to 15 such height-finders while featuring unprecedented mobility.
In the 3D operation mode, the «Vostok-V» performs detection of aerial platforms,measurements of their range, azimuth, height and range rate, automatic tracking of up to 150 targets, target classification and transmission of information into an integrated control system.
